This aerial panoramic photograph of downtown Saint Louis was taken from a helicopter over the Mississippi River by James Blakeway. Featured prominently is the Gateway Arch at Jefferson National Expansion Memorial. The Gateway Arch was completed on October 28,1965 and hosts over two million visitors each year. Seen through the legs of the Arch is the Historic Old Courthouse, completed in 1862. To the south of the Arch is Busch Stadium, home to the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. To the north is the Edward Jones Dome, home to the St. Louis Rams football team. Saint Louis was founded in 1764 and named for King Louis IX of France.
