Text on Panorama:
This panoramic photograph of Kansas City was taken by James Blakeway. It features the area of Kansas City known as “The Country Club Plaza” or, in short, “The Plaza.” The Plaza is an outdoor museum, featuring Spanish architecture and European art, designed in 1922 as the nation's first suburban shopping district. Every Thanksgiving evening, thousands officially welcome the holiday season at the annual lighting of this shopping center. More than 288,000 multi-colored lights, spanning over 80 miles, outline the buildings, creating a magical wonderland that draws visitors through mid-January.
