This aerial panoramic photograph of downtown San Francisco was taken by James Blakeway and features the downtown skyline nestled between the city’s famous bridges. At the right of the panorama is a portion of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, a 4.5-mile bridge that was first opened in 1936. Visible in the distance is the Golden Gate Bridge which has become an internationally recognized symbol of San Francisco and was the longest suspension bridge span in the world when it was completed in 1937. Visible in the distant right is the former federal prison, Alcatraz Island. On the left is AT&T Park, home to the San Francisco Giants baseball team.
