This panorama, taken by Robert Pettit, spotlights the Oklahoma Sooner football team playing its second home game of the season against the Tennessee Volunteers at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. Sooner fans were out in force and showed their passion and support at this nationally televised event by “Striping the Stadium,” with even-numbered sections wearing crimson and odd-numbered sections wearing white. Oklahoma’s football program began in 1895, with the team called Rough Riders or Boomers, before changing their nickname to Sooners in 1908. The Oklahoma Sooners hold the record for the longest winning streak in Division I-FBS history.
