This panoramic photograph of Las Vegas was taken by James Blakeway from atop Mandalay Bay. The spectacular view looking north spotlights Las Vegas Boulevard, which is more commonly known as the “Las Vegas Strip.” Featured on the left is the pyramid-shaped Luxor Hotel and Casino, as well as Excalibur and New York, New York. On the right side, about halfway down the Strip, is Paris with its replica of the Eiffel Tower. In the distance is the Stratosphere Tower. At 1,149 feet, Stratosphere Tower is the tallest freestanding observation tower in the US and has amusement rides at the top. Tourism is the dominant industry in Las Vegas, with the Strip as the main attraction.
