Tradition runs deep in the Big 12 conference, and TCU is no exception where traditions start with the Horned Frog. Some say the horned frog was chosen, due to the small, spiny lizards prevalence on the football practice field, yet others say it’s tough feisty spirit matched the tough frontier spirit shown by TCU itself. Regardless of the reason, the TCU student athletes take pride in being called Horned Frogs.
