The epic affair featured a thrilling overtime finish in which Syracuse emerged victorious 91-89 and rose to #1 in the nation with the win. The two legendary coaches - Jim Boeheim and Duke's Mike Krzyzewski called it one of the greatest games of all time. The game marked the official tip-off of the Syracuse/Duke rivalry in the ACC. The spectacular event broke the on-campus college basketball attendance record set the prior year, with 35,446 fans packing the largest domed stadium in college sports.
