This aerial panoramic photograph of New Haven was taken by James Blakeway and features downtown New Haven and the Yale University campus. Centered in the panorama is historic New Haven Green with Center Church located in the middle of New Haven Green. To the right of Center Church is United Church. Beyond New Haven Green is Yale University. Yale was founded in 1701 as The Collegiate School and is the third oldest institution of higher education in the United States. The prominent gothic structure located behind and left of Center Church is Harkness Tower, which contains the Yale Memorial Carillon, a 54-bell instrument.
